Hiking trail to Panchito´s Cave

For going to go to Cueva de Panchito, we must take a boat at Bayahibe; therefore, this tours combined the terrestrial and marine areas. The whole tours (hiking trail and riding boat) would take about half of day with the option of going to the natural swimming pool area and do some snorkeling or swimming. Also, in this cave we will be able to see ancient Taino petroglyphs (see imagescrollers ) and bats. During the tour the visitor will have the experience of walking in the tropical forest observing the different species of plants, orchids, bromeliads as well as animals such as birds, reptiles, insects and other arthropods. During the hiking, we would make several stops in order to explain about the species that we are going to see as well as the ancient Taino Pre-Columbian Indigenous Culture.

Recorrido Ecológico Cueva de Panchito

 

Para ir a ir a la Cueva de Panchito, debemos tomar un bote en Bayahibe, de manera, que este recorrido ecológico combina parte del área marina (ruta del Litoral) con el recorrido terrestre. El tour hacia la Cueva de Panchito, se realiza en medio día, por lo que el visitante tiene toda la tarde disponible, para bañarse, nadar, y hacer snorkeling; ya sea en Bayahibe o la Piscina Natural. En esta Cueva hay petroglifo Taino, muy particular como podemos ver en las imágenes que se pasan (como un muñeco) y murciélagos. Durante el recorrido el visitante tendrá la experiencia de caminar en el bosque tropical observando las diferentes especies de plantas, orquídeas, bromelias, así como animales, como aves, reptiles, insectos y otros artrópodos. Durante la caminata, que se hacen varias paradas para explicar sobre las diferentes especies que iremos observando y sobre la cultura Taina del periodo precolombino.
